Anambra 2017: YDP Guber Aspirant to Extend Interest-free Loan to Traders

*** to appoint commissioner from business community

The governorship aspirant of the Young Democratic Party (YDP) in the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State, Comrade Nonso Ozoemenam, has pledged to give out interest-free loans to traders in order to enhance their economic capacity if elected.

The aspirant, who spoke during a familiarisation visit to the Dei Dei market traders in Abuja, said he was in the race to restore the glory of Anambra State.

Comrade Ozoemenam, who is from Umuoba Anam in Anambra East Local Government Council of the state, said his government would empower traders by giving out soft loans to expand their business frontiers.
“My government will empower traders by giving out interest-free loans . The only way to improve your financial status is to help you do profitable business by giving you soft loans.

“I will be the first governor to appoint one of you into my cabinet. If a businessman can grow his business from the scratch and it becomes a huge business empire, he is the kind of person I need in my government. He has the experience that will help my government deliver.

“My Commissioner for commerce will be a trader. I don’t care about his educational qualification because he has proven his mettle by his business status and growth”, he said.

On the ongoing voter registration exercise, the youthful guber aspirant called on the indigenes of the state to endeavor to take advantage of the ongoing voter-registration exercise to register and obtain their PVCs in order to vote on election day while urging the traders to sensitize their relatives at home on the need to participate in the election.

On the issue of godfatherism, he said he was not being propelled by any political force noting that his backer in the race remains God.
The Dei Dei business community trooped out in large numbers to receive the YDP delegation which included Nollywood Star, Jim Iyke, who was part of the team.

In his response, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dei Dei International Market Traders Association, Elder Fred Ogara, expressed delight that the guber aspirant found time to honour them and brief them on his plans for Anambra State.

“Be strong and courageous. As you honour God, He will honour you. He will give you wisdom to succeed where others failed.

“Anambra and Nigeria belong to the youth. We have the capacity to tell our relatives at home that there is a young blood in the race. We shall reciprocate the honour given to us”, he said.
