PDP LGA Congress: Okolo Raphael Dada Emerges LGA Party Chairman

The congress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Oshimili South Local Government Area conducted today has produced a new LGA Party chairman, Asaba Post News Wire reports. 

Mr. Okolo Raphael Dada emerged the people’s choice at the congress.

According to the returning officer, Mr John Azike, from Oshimili North LGA, he thanked the party members over their peaceful and matured conduct at the congress.

The exercise conducted peacefully attracted party leaders and elders from all the wards in the council area.

Six candidates aspired for the converted office of the local government party chairman, the returning officer announced.

Mr Okolo Raphael Dada, Ogbueshi Samson Okonji, Evang Ebelim Maduemezia, Mr Sunny Obi, Mr Chiedu Osadebe and Hon Uche Nwaokobia were shortlisted to contest for the party’s LGA chairman.

Hon Uche Nwaokobia and Mr. Okolo Raphael Dada upon the absence of other contestants locked horns for the position, where Mr Okolo Raphael Dada defeated Hon Nwaokobia with 97 votes against 3 votes.

In the spirit of true sportsmanship, Hon Uche Nwaokobia accepted defeat, thanked his supporters and expressed the hope that in future elections he will emerge victorious, promised to work for the party and support the leadership of Mr. Okolo Raphael Dada.

In his post victory speech, Mr Okolo Raphael Dada thanked all present, promised to be loyal to party leaders and serve well the party interests.
